Dr. Eddie Khoo

Dr Eddie Khoo is an Australian-trained Anaesthetist who has a subspecialty interest in Orthopaedic Surgery & Regional Anaesthesia.

He completed a Biochemistry degree at Queen’s University in Canada before undertaking his Medical degree at Sydney University and Anaesthetic training in Adelaide. He is currently a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and an active member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetist (ASA). Dr Khoo holds appointments at all the major private and public hospitals in the Illawarra. He keeps up to date with the latest anaesthetic techniques by regular attendance at several national and international conferences. He also contributes to the teaching and mentoring of Anaesthetic trainees within the public sector.

Around the time of surgery, Dr Khoo will provide you with a safe, comfortable and individualised anaesthetic experience. It begins with a pre-operative telephone consultation in the days prior to surgery where Dr Khoo will learn about your medical history, optimise any medical conditions, and explain anaesthetic and pain relief options for your surgery.

On the day of surgery, Dr Khoo will endeavour to make it as stress-free as possible. If you’re anxious, he can provide you with a pre-med to calm you down. If you’ve been sick with your previous anaesthetics, he can employ a total intravenous anaesthetic (TIVA) technique to minimise post-operative nausea and vomiting. If you’ve had terrible pain after surgery, Dr Khoo can provide you with a local anaesthetic nerve block to ensure you wake up comfortably.

The anaesthetic care does not end when you leave the operating theatre complex. Dr Khoo will follow you up – in person or via telephone/SMS – to ensure that you recover well and have a good post-operative experience.
