What to expect in your first consultation
Dr Dares is a very experienced Australian-trained Orthopaedic surgeon specialising in surgery of the foot and ankle. After a thorough consultation, she will be able to recommend the best possible course of treatment. She performs all surgery of the foot and ankle including (but not limited to) procedures for:
- Arthritis of the ankle and foot (fusions and replacements)
- Hammertoe or other small toe deformities
- Sporting injuries including ankle instability, syndesmosis tears, Achilles tears or cartilage defects
She has appointments and regular operating lists at Wollongong Private, Wollongong Day Surgery and Wollongong Public hospital. She is also regularly on call at Wollongong Public hospital for general orthopaedic trauma.
On arrival for your first consultation you will be provided with a patient information questionnaire to complete. As well as providing an overview of why you have come to see Dr Dares, this will help provide insight into what is important in your life – your job, hobbies, and exercise activities. Dr Dares strongly believes in research and monitoring performance. You will therefore be asked to complete a functional outcome score that allows us to monitor and improve on the effectiveness of our treatments. Please aim to arrive 10 minutes prior to your consultation appointment in order to register and complete your patient questionnaire.
