    Dr Laura Clarke (PhD)

    Director of Allied Health
    Sport & Exercise Physiotherapist


    Dr Laura Clarke (PhD) is the Director of Allied Health for Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group. With 20 years’ experience as a Sport and Exercise Physiotherapist she has worked extensively domestically and internationally in high performance sport with swimming, rugby 7s, water polo, soccer, AFL and Paralympic sports. In 2008 she held the coveted position of post graduate scholar at the Australian Institute of Sport. Laura completed a PhD in 2020 on the risk factors for shoulder injury in Australian Rules football and is also a clinical educator in anatomy at the University of Wollongong and the University of Western Sydney.

    At Joint Vision, Dr Clarke provides leadership to our allied health team and oversees our research program and our onsite fracture and injury clinic.

    When Laura is not at work you can find her at Pilates, on her road bike or chasing around her two young and energetic boys.

  • Exercise Physiologist and Research Coordinator - Joint Vision

    Caitlin Beatty

    Exercise Physiologist & Research Coordinator

    Caitlin completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science and a Masters in Exercise Physiology at the University of Wollongong in 2021. Caitlin commenced work at Joint Vision Orthopaedics in 2022 and as well as her exercise physiology work she is a research assistant assisting with projects to improve the management of foot ankle conditions.

    Caitlin’s clinical focus as an EP involves education, prescribing exercise strategies and providing a goal-oriented approach to improve function in clients post-surgically. She has a special interest in chronic disease management, geriatric care/ falls prevention, hydrotherapy as well as mat and reformer pilates.

    Caitlin grew up in Orange, NSW and moved to Wollongong to be by the beach. Outside of work she enjoys swimming, netball, hiking, cycling and snowboarding.

  • Kat Chounlamountry

    Kat is a physiotherapist with over 10 years of experience with exposure to multiple senior roles in rehabilitation spanning several geographies including the UK, Singapore and Australia.

    The aspect of physiotherapy that drives Kat the most is helping to provide people with long term solutions that they can implement and sustain themselves when it comes to their rehabilitation.

    In 2017 Kat founded her own company in Singapore, focusing on elite athletes, post-surgery orthopaedic rehab and women’s health. She particularly enjoyed playing pivotal roles for the annual International Singapore Rugby 7’s tournament and international South East Asian AFL league.

    Outside of work Kat can usually be found running after her two young kids, enjoying a Muay Thai class or working in her food truck – Chicken Van Man.

  • Podiatrist - Joint Vision

    Steffan Evans

    Podiatrist

    Helo, I’m Steffan, harking from Cardiff, Wales (the original South Wales). I graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Podiatry in 2015 and then again in 2022 with a Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice-MSK Podiatry.

    After graduating from my Podiatry degree, I went straight into working in the local NHS service in Wales. Being a keen sportsperson, I have a deep interest in biomechanics or musculoskeletal (MSK) podiatry which led me to specialise in this field of podiatry. During the last 5 years I have held a position within the NHS as a Specialised MSK Podiatrist. I also spent time working privately as an MSK specialist in several local practices in and around Cardiff before packing up my bags and heading down under to Oz.

    Outside of work, I’m generally active and have a general interest in a variety of activities. I’m often found at the gym most mornings and up a hill or a mountain or in the woods exploring on the weekends.

    I do occasionally like to be a superstar singer in the shower, and I’m known to be able to play a tune or 3 on the harp.

  • Alicia Frey

    Physiotherapist

    Alicia is an experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist. She graduated with a Doctor of Physiotherapy from Melbourne University in 2016 and has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Over the last seven years Alicia has enjoyed working with various sporting teams both at a local level and an international level, with the sports of rugby league, AFL and the Australian Swimming. Alicia has a passion for musculoskeletal rehabilitation and enjoys seeing clients return to their chosen sport or activity post injury or surgery. If you are injured, you may also see Alicia in our onsite fracture and injury clinic, and she is interested in supporting patients during the acute injury phase.

    Outside of work, Alicia enjoys an active lifestyle, and you can often find her swimming, at the gym or walking her dog along Port Kembla beach.

  • Senior Research Officer

    Dr Diane Harland (PhD)

    Senior Research Officer

    Dr Diane Harland (PhD) is the Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group Senior Research Officer. Diane is an experienced academic/research scientist having worked in medicine, health, and exercise science for over 25 years. Her research interests include lower limb structure and function, obesity, work boot design, surfing technique, lymphoedema, lung cancer/smoking cessation and advanced illness. She has extensive clinical and translational research experience as a project manager/research fellow on government and industry national and international projects. Her PhD investigated the biomechanics of foot structure and function in overweight and obese children and her publications have been cited over 900 times.

    Diane also works in the Graduate School of Medicine and the School of Education at University of Wollongong and in the School of Population Health at University of New South Wales where she lectures and supervises undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students.

    Lorena Sammartino

    Physiotherapist

    Lorena has over 12 years of experience as physiotherapist since graduating from the University of Florence, Italy, in 2010. She has worked in private practice and different hospital settings in areas including orthopaedics, neurological and cardiothoracic rehabilitation. Lorena also has experience working in the aged care sector.

    Lorena moved to Australia in 2016 and completed the pathway for overseas qualified physiotherapists with the APC (Australian Physiotherapy Council). Her main field of interest is orthopaedic rehabilitation including acute and chronic conditions as well as pre- and post-operative care.

    She loves working side by side with surgeons and the allied health team to deliver the best tailored, evidence-based treatment. Lorena especially enjoys following the patient experience, from the initial consultation until the patient is discharge back to the activities they enjoy most. Lorena also enjoys participating in our onsite fracture and injury clinic and supporting patients with acute injuries.

    In her spare time, Lorena is passionate about Bikram Yoga and full body functional training.

    Mikayla Moran

    MSK Sonographer

    Mikayla completed a Bachelor of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Wollongong in 2015. She then completed a Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography at the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine with a specialty of vascular ultrasound in 2018. She worked in private practice performing arterial and venous scans for 6 years for a vascular specialist.

    In 2022, Mikayla completed a Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound at the Queensland University of Technology and commenced working at Joint Vision Orthopaedics, with an interest in musculoskeletal sonography.

    Outside f work Mikayla enjoys going on hikes, paddleboarding and playing with her two dogs.

    Michelle is an experienced radiographer with a strong background in education, training and management.

    She has worked extensively across the Illawarra Shoalhaven district as well as rural NSW and overseas.

    Michelle enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team, liaising and collaborating with other health professionals to ensure an accurate and comprehensive patient service.

    When she’s not working, you’ll find her planning her next travel adventure.

  • Registered Nurse Nurse Practitioner - Joint Vision

    Alison Shepherd

    Nurse Practitioner

    Alison has been a team member at Joint Vision Orthopaedics since 2021.

    Her nursing background included extensive Perioperative experience as a theatre nurse, as well as leadership and management, both of which she has drawn upon to help complete a Masters of Nursing to become a qualified Nurse Practitioner, endorsed with AHPRA in 2023.

    Within our service she oversees the preoperative and postoperative patient clinics and patient monitoring, as well running our onsite ultrasound guided injection clinic twice a week to help treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

    Alongside this work in our centre, Alison also works as a surgical assistant with multiple private hospital credentials, across a number of surgical specialties such as Plastics and reconstructive surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General and colorectal surgery, Breast and endocrine surgery, and Orthopaedics. Further to this, she also participates in academic teaching for Universities within Australia to contribute to nursing coursework.

    When not at work, she enjoys going on adventures with her family, watching live music, and discovering great food and coffee!

    Laura is a seasoned medical receptionist with a decade of valuable experience under her belt. In addition to her role as a Patient Services Agent, Laura is also one of our Work Cover Coordinators and Clinical Assistants. Driven by her passion for healthcare, Laura is currently pursuing her certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, further enhancing her knowledge and expertise in the field. Outside of work and studies, Laura finds solace and joy in spending quality time with her beloved canine companions, engaging in camping and 4WD adventures and exploring the beautiful sights of Wollongong since relocating from the Shire in 2018.

As a clinical assistant, she supports doctors and patients with medical knowledge and compassion. Monique specializes in workers' compensation, navigating complex claims and collaborating with insurance providers, healthcare professionals, and employees.     Chief Executive Officer

    Wynter’s experience includes over a decade as a management consultant working predominantly with multinational mining, gas and construction companies across Australia, United Kingdom, and the Americas. Early in his career, Wynter spent time as secondary school teacher and has also worked at a tertiary level lecturing in entrepreneurship.

    From this diverse background, Wynter is passionate in applying contemporary practice and lessons learnt from a range of industries to really extend how health services can delivered.

    Since establishing in August 2020, Wynter has had a relentless focus on leading with a patient centered approach and designing a comprehensive and responsive health service. This has contributed to our Australian first concept of the Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group.
